World 100 metre champion Oblique Seville and silver medalist Kishane Thompson headline a strong list of nine nominees for the 2025 National Sportsman Award, while world championship 100m silver medallist Tina Clayton and 200m bronze medallist Shericka Jackson are among four nominees for the female award.

The nominees were unveiled today during the official launch of the 65th staging of the annual National Sports Awards.

Joining Seville and Thompson on the men’s shortlist are world championship long jump silver medallist Tajay Gayle, 110m hurdles silver medallist Orlando Bennett, bronze medallist Tyler Mason, world 200m bronze medallist Bryan Levell, world indoor long jump silver medallist Wayne Pinnock, high jump finalist Raymond Richards and international practical shooting gold medallist Anthony Johnson.

On the women’s side, Clayton leads the field alongside Jackson, Diamond League 100m hurdles winner Ackera Nugent and international world championship powerboat racer Sarah Misir.

Meanwhile, several standout performances have been nominated for the People’s Choice Award. These include Seville’s world championship gold medal run, Clayton’s world championship silver medal performance, the silver and bronze medal finishes by Bennett and Mason in the 110m hurdles, and the women’s 4x100m relay silver medal run.

Also in contention are Dujon “Whisper” Richards’ World Cup qualifying goal against Bermuda, Renaldo Cephas’ strike against Trinidad and Tobago, and the derby-winning run by I Dream Again at Caymanas Park.

In addition to the major individual honours, awards will also be presented for the National Men’s and Women’s Runners-up, National Sports Team of the Year, Breakthrough of the Year, Y.O.U.T.H. Award, Certificates of Merit, ISSA Schools Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and the Chairman’s Award.
