SERHA dismisses “misinformation…regarding treatment of patient at Princess Margaret Hospital”

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SERHA) has dismissed what it says is misinformation circulating on social media, regarding the treatment of a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

In a statement last evening, SERHA said the patient, who was involved in a motor vehicle crash, was assessed in the Accident and Emergency Department, where appropriate care was promptly provided.

SERHA said it notes the allegations concerning patient care and hospital operations and that the hospital’s medical team is committed to transparency and open communication with the community.

It added that the hospital’s medical team met with the patient’s family and provided an update on the patient’s condition, and addressed other concerns.

SERHA said the management at the Princess Margaret Hospital encourages the public to utilize the family care system, which facilitates direct communication between patients and their physicians.

It said the hospital continues to operate with the highest standard of care, with patient well-being as its top priority.
