The South East Regional Health Authority, SERHA and the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers, JALGO are to meet with the Labour Ministry tomorrow to discuss outstanding salary payments for ambulance drivers.
Some ambulance drivers from Kingston and St. Andrew, upset about retroactive payments owed to them and the upgrading of drivers’ posts, have been off the job since yesterday.
As a result, some services have been affected, including nursing support at the Kingston Public Hospital, mental health services at the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department, and operations at the National Chest Hospital.
In a statement this afternoon, SERHA said it is hoped that tomorrow’s meeting will result in a timely and amicable resolution to the issues raised.
JALGO’’s President Helene Davis-Whyte, also told IRIE FM News that she expects that the dispute will be settled and workers will resume normal operations.
