Opposition Senator and Trade Unionist Lambert Brown moved two motions in the Upper House today, aimed at improving the protection of workers.
One motion is about reviewing laws related to fixed term contracts.
Senator Brown said this issue must be addressed, as some employers are abusing the system.
The other motion relates to reviewing the 1983 Education Tax Act.
The 2 motions will be debated at a later date.
