Senate President demands apology from Integrity Commission chair Justice Seymour Panton over comments made at oversight committee meeting

President of the Senate Tom Tavares-Finson has taken issue with comments made by Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Justice Seymour Panton, that reports from the commission appear to be leaked once they are dispatched to parliament.

Justice Panton who was speaking during this morning’s meeting of parliament’s integrity commission oversight committee noted that several of the commission’s recent reports were leaked, before being tabled in parliament.

He said that it’s unlikely the leaks stemmed from the commission, as they occurred after the reports were dispatched to Gordon House

In a statement today, Senator Tavares-Finson rebuked Justice Panton, for the remarks and called for an apology.

Meantime, the Senate President also took issue with a comment Justice Panton made about the water at parliament.

Justice Panton had given a reason as to why he brought his own drinking water to this morning’s meeting.

Senator Tavares-Finson said the comments are rude, disrespectful, offensive and out-of-order.

He suggested that Justice Panton apologises to parliament.
