Senate President adamant that there is no animosity between Heads of the Houses of Parliament and retired clerk, Valrie Curtis
Senate President, Tom Tavares-Finson is adamant that there is no lingering animosity between Heads of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament and retired clerk, Valrie Curtis.
This, following public speculation and condemnation over House Speaker Juliet Holness reprimanding Ms. Curtis for allegedly not complying with a directive regarding the tabling of reports in the Parliament.
The Opposition has called for a withdrawal of the letter sent by the Speaker to Ms. Curtis, as well as an apology.
But in a statement today, the Senate President called for a reduction in the politicization of commentary and posturing concerning Ms.Curtis and the letter sent to her by the House Speaker.
At the same time, Mr. Tavares-Finson said he did not recommend a further extension of Ms. Curtis’ tenure, as he believes Parliament needs a new approach.
