Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang has described as tragic, a shooting incident in Cherry Lane Four Paths Clarendon, where several persons were shot , some of whom have died.

The incident occurred Sunday night. Police have not yet released a report on the incident.

Reports to IRIE FM News are that more than 10 people were shot , some have died and others are being treated.

In a statement late Sunday night , Dr Chang expressed deep sadness and  condolences to the families who have been affected . According to the National Security Minister , its believed this attack may be connected to reprisal activities from a few years back.  

He said the government is committed to supporting the community and police officers, as they work tirelessly to bring those responsible for this heinous act to justice.

The National Security Minister said the police have made significant progress in Clarendon, with a 39 percent reduction in murders compared to last year. However, he stated that incidents like these are a reminder  that the  work is far from over.

Dr Chang has urged the police to utilize every available resource and power to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly.
