A man was fatally shot by the police during a shoot-out in Grasmond, Braes River, St. Elizabeth today.

His identity has not yet been released.

Head of the St. Elizabeth Police Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto said a team of officers was conducting an operation in the area, when 3 men armed with guns opened fire at them.

The lawmen returned fire and one of the alleged gunmen was hit.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

ASP Minto said the search for the other 2 men who are believed to be responsible for numerous crimes in the area is ongoing.
