Scorpions to Face Harpy Eagles in Super50 Cup Opener
2024 finalists Jamaica Scorpions will launch their 2025 CG United Super50 Cup campaign against the Guyana Harpy Eagles when the regional one-day tournament bowls off on Wednesday, November 19.
The opening-round fixture is set for the Queen’s Park Oval and is one of three matches on the first day’s schedule. The other encounters will see the Leeward Islands Hurricanes taking on the Windward Islands Volcanoes, while Barbados Pride meet tournament hosts Trinidad and Tobago.
The match-ups were confirmed following the release of the official fixtures by Cricket West Indies (CWI) for the 11-day competition, which will be contested across three venues — the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Queen’s Park Oval, and the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Ground at UWI St. Augustine.
The competition will be played under a round-robin format with the top two teams advancing to the final on Saturday, November 29. The champion claims a top prize of US$100,000, the runner-up will collect US$50,000, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will each receive US$25,000.
Last year’s edition ended in disappointment when both finalists — Jamaica Scorpions and Barbados Pride — forfeited the championship match. The two sides will meet in repeat of that ill-fated final in Round 4 on Tuesday, November 25.
