Scorpions fall short of semifinals after loss to CCC in Regional Four-Day Championship
The Jamaica Scorpions have been eliminated from semifinal contention in the West Indies Regional Four-Day Championship, following a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) on the third and penultimate day of their final-round clash at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in Trinidad.
Needing a win to stay alive in the tournament, the Scorpions resumed their second innings on 206 for 5 and were eventually bowled out for 342, setting CCC a target of 149. Captain John Campbell led the charge with a resilient century, returning to the crease after retiring hurt on 33 to post a top-score of 104. Peat Salmon also made a useful contribution with 35, but the CCC bowlers, led by Larry Edward (5 for 86) and Chemar Holder (3 for 79), kept the Scorpions in check.
In response, CCC chased down the target comfortably, reaching 153 for 5 thanks to an unbeaten 85 from Shaqkere Parris, who struck six fours and five sixes in a commanding innings. Romario Greaves supported with 19 not out. Jamaica’s bowlers, Peat Salmon (2 for 55) and Marquino Mindley (2 for 30), did their best to keep the game alive but could not prevent the inevitable.

Harpy Eagles Eye Big Win Over Red Force in Top-of-the-Table Clash
At Queen’s Park Oval, the Guyana Harpy Eagles are on the verge of an innings victory over second-place Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. After declaring on 463, the defending champions had the Red Force reeling at 101 for 2 at stumps on Day 3, still needing 122 runs to make Guyana bat again.
Amir Jangoo stood firm with an even 50, while Cephas Cooper (26*) and Bryan Charles (1*) will resume on the final day under immense pressure. Earlier, Guyana capitalized on their overnight 269 for 5, with Keemo Paul adding 93 and Veerasammy Permaul finishing unbeaten on 52. Khary Pierre was the pick of the bowlers for the Red Force with figures of 4 for 119.

Barbados Fight Back in Low-Scoring Thriller at Warner Park
Meanwhile, in the day/night encounter at Warner Park, Barbados Pride are clawing their way back into contention against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes. After starting Day 3 on 153 for 5, Barbados were bowled out for 315 — a deficit of 129 — with Matthew Forde leading the way with a composed 120.
In their second innings, the Hurricanes closed at 76 for 8, holding a lead of 205 with just two wickets in hand. Only Keacy Carty (36) & Jahmar Hamilton (12) managed double figures in a dramatic session dominated by Barbados’ bowlers. Ramon Simmonds impressed with figures of 5 for 21, while Shaquille Cumberbatch supported well with 3 for 17.
