Scores pay tribute to late Wellesley Bolt, father of sprint legend Usain

Scores of people gathered at the Falmouth Seventh Day Adventist Church in Trelawny today to pay tribute to the father of sprint legend Usain Bolt, Wellesley Bolt.

Wellesley, otherwise called Gideon, died in March following a period of illness.

He was 68.

Among those who attended the funeral were Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Horace Chang, former Prime Minister Bruce Golding, Sports Minister Olivia Grange, Member of Parliament for Northern Trelawny Tova Hamilton and opposition members Wykeham McNeill and Natalie Neita Garvey.

Speaking at the service, Usain remembered his father as a great and kind man.

And, Dr. Holness, in describing Usain as a national hero, extended love and prayers to the Olympian and his family, on behalf of all Jamaicans.
