Scores of students benefit from Pocket Rocket Foundation Student Athlete Summit and Developmental Seminar
The legendary Olympic and World champion Shelly Ann Fraser says it is imperative to create a holistic environment for student athletes, given the social ills, and countless distraction that throws them off course.
Student-athletes from all across Jamaica were on Tuesday given the opportunity to benefit from motivational speeches, interaction with sponsors and the access to key information for career choices,.
This at the inaugural staging of the Pocket Rocket Foundation student-athlete summit and development seminar at the AC Hotel in Kingston.
The summit covered several topics crucial to the athlets development such as time management, mental resilience, nutrition, injury prevention, among other areas.
“My years on the track have taught me countless life lessons but there are some I wish I had learned earlier in my life and career. This is why this summit was created, to give you access to those lessons now, so you can build your future equipped with clarity and confidence,” said the three-time Olympic and 10-time World champion who grew up in Waterhouse.
The Pocket Rocket Foundation founded in 2013, has issued 93 academic scholarships across 12 sporting disciplines from 31 Jamaican High Schools.
