Schools in Trelawny Benefit from Wake-Fit 5K Donations

Over nine schools across the communities of Wakefield, Bounty Hall, Bunkers Hill, Deeside and Friendship in Trelawny have received a boost to their classroom resources, thanks to proceeds from the inaugural Wake-Fit 5K Run/Walk.

The donations — which include printers, projectors, televisions, a water tank and refrigerator, partition doors, wall and standings fans, blender, ply sheets, shoes, bags, and stationary — were handed over by the event’s organizing committee following the success of the charity run held on August 1. The initiative generated over $500,000, which was directed toward improving learning conditions at the beneficiary institutions.

Among the schools receiving support are Wakefield Primary & Infant School, Faith Tabernacle Early Childhood, Unity Primary & Infant School, Greenvale Early Childhood, Dromilly Basic School, Friendship Basic School, Wakefield Basic School, Bounty Hall Primary and Hastings Primary & Infant School.

Organizers say the contribution is part of their commitment to community development and the empowerment of young learners in Trelawny. Plans are already underway to make the Wake-Fit 5K an annual event, with hopes of raising even more funds for schools and other local initiatives in the coming years.
