Sarah Misir to make historic debut at E1 World Championship in Saudi Arabia

Sarah Misir, the Caribbean’s first professional female race car driver, is set to make her highly anticipated debut at the E1 World Championship on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The E1 World Championship features nine teams, each with both male and female pilots who share driving duties. They will race in all-electric, purpose-built boats known as Race-Birds. The competition offers a unique and sustainable alternative to traditional motorsport, showcasing cutting-edge electric technology in high-speed water racing.

Earlier this month, Misir was officially named the female pilot for Team Blue Rising, a team owned by superstar Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. She will partner with American driver John Peters, who served as the team principal in 2024.

The E1 World Championship, after Saturday’s opener in Jeddah, will continue with a second event in Qatar on February 22, as part of an expanded 2024 calendar. The championship features a total of seven events across multiple continents.

Notably, the E1 teams are owned by some of the most influential names in sports and entertainment including Will Smith, Rafael Nadal, Sergio Perez, Didier Drogba and Tom Brady.

Misir’s participation marks a significant milestone, as she becomes part of the world’s first and only all-electric race boat championship.
