The Sanmerna Foundation has mobilized its response mechanism, following yesterday’s explosion at a Burger King outlet in New Kingston, which left several persons with severe burns.

Project Manager Stephen Josephs was at the hospital yesterday, meeting with relatives of the burn victims and holding discussions with the medical team.

Mr. Josephs told IRIE FM News that assessments are being conducted on the status of the burn victims.

The assessments will help determine what next steps will be taken.

In recent years, Sanmerna has been helping burn victims to get treatment, at specialised facilities in the United States.

Many of the affected persons have recovered well and returned to normal life in Jamaica.
