The Sam Sharpe monument in Montego Bay, St. James which was defaced late last month has been restored.
The monument, which commemorates the National Hero, was partly covered with green paint.
The act of defacement prompted calls by the St. James Municipal Corporation and the Jamaica National Heritage Trust for greater security for national monuments.
On its social media page this afternoon, the Municipal Corporation urged citizens to play their part in protecting monuments across the country.
It warned that these sites are protected, and persons caught vandalizing them can face legal consequences.
