Russian national fined $2M following deadly Palisadoes main road crash in 2022
Alexey Zaytsev, the 53-year-old Russian national who pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of four people by dangerous driving, following a crash in Kingston over two years ago, has been given seven days to pay a $2 million fine.
Zaytsev was charged after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a taxi, along the Palisadoes main road on December 11, 2022.
Four occupants of the taxi were pronounced dead.
Mr. Zaytsev’s attorney, King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie, said his client was fined in the Supreme Court today.
Mr. Champagnie said arguments were outlined as to why his client should not serve prison time.
