The rural school bus service was launched in Portland this morning with students being transported from buff bay to Port Antonio.

Minister of Transport and Portland Western Member of Parliament Daryl Vaz called for patience from students and parents, while noting that it is going to take time for all the buses to get into the system. 

He indicated that with the introduction of the school bus, students will not have to compete with adults for transportation .

Meantime, Portland Eastern MP Ann Marie Vaz welcomed the initiative, noting that this will aid in providing safe transportation for students. 

60 buses are to be rolled out by September and another 40 buses by January next year.
