Roy Simpson Named Acting General Secretary of Jamaica Football Federation

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has appointed Roy Simpson as the new Acting General Secretary, effective immediately. Simpson fills the position following the departure of Dennis Chung, who stepped down on May 31 after confirming he would not renew his contract when it expires in November.

Simpson has been a key figure within the Federation since 2008, playing a vital role in some of Jamaica’s most significant football achievements. During his tenure as the Reggae Boyz Team’s General Manager, the national team secured runners-up finishes at the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2015 and 2017, the Young Reggae Boyz qualified for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2011, and the senior men’s team claimed Caribbean Cup titles in 2010 and 2014.

In line with organizational restructuring, Omar McFarlane, currently serving as team ambassador for the Under-17 Reggae Boyz, will take on the role of Acting General Manager.

JFF President Michael Ricketts expressed confidence in the new appointments, stating, “Mr. Simpson is an integral part of the Federation, and I am confident that he will bring stability and leadership during what promises to be a demanding summer and the remainder of 2025. Likewise, Omar is a dependable professional whose commitment will serve us well in this new role.”
