Romelda Aiken-George back with Adelaide Thunderbirds for 2025 SSNL Season

Sunshine Girls shooter Romelda Aiken-George has inked a new deal with the Adelaide Thunderbirds that will see her turning out for the two-time defending champions for the 2025 season in the Suncorp Super Netball League.

The announcement comes after on the heels of a superb debut season in pink that was topped-off by her scoring a game-high 42 goals to lead the Thunderbirds to a closely-contested 59-57 win over the Melbourne Wixens in the Grand Final.

Aiken-George, a former two league MVP and three-time national champion, joined the Thunderbirds – which includes Jamaican compatriots Latanya Wilson and Shamera Sterling-Humphrey – before the start of the 2024 season on the back of leading the NSW Swifts to the championship match in 2023.

In her 16th season in the national league, the Jamaican superstar had an incredible 2024, recording 736 Nissan Net Points while finishing 4th in scoring with 517 goals and first in offensive rebounds with 69.

In the Grand Final, she was awarded the Player of the Match accolade in the team’s victory with 57.5 NNP, 42 goals and 10 rebounds.

Thunderbirds General Manager of High Performance Jace Bode said the club looks forward to having the three-time national MVP back in pink.

“Romelda was a dominant target for us under the post in 2024 and once again showed why she is one of the best shooters the sport has ever seen,” Bode said.

“Her competitiveness on court and ability to take ball in the air and covert to goal was second to none.

“She added invaluable experience to our attack line and built strong connections with the players around her.

“We look forward to welcoming her back in 2025.”
