Road Safety Council urges caution on roadways as it approaches month end while noting crashes usually spike at this time

The National Road Safety Council is calling on motorists to be extremely careful, as the country enters the fourth week of January.

Vice Chairman of the Council, Dr Lucien Jones says it was noted in a recent meeting with the Constabulary that road deaths spike in the fourth week of each month.

He says while the reason has not been determined, with the fourth week of January now underway, he is calling on Jamaicans to be extra vigilant.

According to the Road Safety Unit, there have been 15 road fatalities since January 1, a 32 per cent reduction, as 22 people were killed in a similar period last year.
