Road Safety Council highlights Westmoreland as one parish where it’s dangerous to drive, after two dead, three wounded along Three Miles River main road
The National Road Safety Council has highlighted Westmoreland as one of the parishes where it is dangerous to drive.
The parish’s road death figures climbed to 52 this morning, following a motor vehicle crash along the Three Miles River main road.
Two unidentified males were killed in the crash which happened at about 1:15 AM.
Three others are being treated at the hospital.
Reports are that a White Toyota Axio motorcar was travelling along the roadway with five occupants aboard.
It is alleged that the vehicle was being operated at a high speed.
The driver reportedly lost control and collided with a tree along the roadside.
The driver and the front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the hospital.
NRSC Vice-Chairman, Dr. Lucien Jones, laments that this morning’s crash strengthens the need for a more concerted effort to reduce the road death figures in Westmoreland.
This morning’s crash comes just two days after a four-year-old girl was killed in a motorcycle crash along the Hopewell main road in the parish.
