Rhoda Crawford accuses watchdog and civil society groups of being PNP aligned
Member of Parliament for Manchester Central Rhoda Crawford has accused the nation’s watchdog and civil society groups of being partisan to the People’s National Party, (PNP).
This, as she claims the groups have been quiet about situations within the opposition that should cause concern.
In particular, she referenced the recent situation involving former PNP caretaker for Kingston Central Lawrence Rowe.
Rowe recently claimed that the party offered him a senate appointment, board membership at a housing agency and $15 million in resources to give up his seat.
Mr. Rowe was subsequently replaced by retired Senior Superintendent of Police Steve McGregor.
The PNP has denied the claims, stating that they contradict the party’s long-standing policies and practices.
But commenting on the issue at an Area Council 3 meeting last evening, Ms. Crawford said if the situation had arisen within the Jamaica Labour Party, it would not have gone unnoticed by civil society groups.
Ms. Crawford further accused some of the island’s media houses of being biased towards the JLP.
