Residents of several St. James communities protest over poor road conditions
Residents of several St. James communities used debris and downed trees to block a number of roadways in protests over poor road conditions, this morning.
Irie FM news understands that residents of Dumfries, Adelphi, Unity Hall, Reading, Moyall and Somerton participated in the protests.
Taxi operators also participated in the demonstrations.
They say the roads have been deteriorating for some time.
One taxi operator said the residents have had enough.
Another taxi operator in Dumfries said his profits can only go towards maintaining his vehicle.
Meanwhile, Councillor for the Spring Gardens Division Dwight Crawford told Irie FM news that work has begun on the Moyall main road.
However, he said due to the recent rains and a water project taking place in the area, rehabilitation works have been put on pause.
he called on residents to be patient.
