Residents of Dover, St. Mary blocked sections of the North Coast Highway to protest delayed power restoration
Scores of commuters were left stranded this morning as residents of Dover in St. Mary and Windsor Castle in Portland blocked sections of the North Coast Highway at the Portland, St. Mary border.
The residents used debris to block the roadway from as early as 7:00 A.M to protest the lack of electricity in their communities.
The road has now been cleared.
A resident of Windsor Castle in Portland Adrian Barnes told IRIE FM News that he was stranded in traffic for over two hours.
Meantime, Media and Public Relations Manager at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) Audrey Williams assured the residents that power is to be restored to the community within the next 24 to 48 hours.
