Residents and taxi operators protest poor road in Hartford Westmoreland
Disgruntled residents and taxi operators, blocked sections of the Hartford Main Road in Westmoreland on Monday morning to register their frustration over poor road conditions.
The residents used trees and other debris to block the roadway, leaving students and other commuters stranded.
The Westmoreland police engaged the fire department and the parish council in clearing the roadblocks.
Meantime, when probed by Irie Fm news, Savanna-La-Mar mayor Bertel Moore said the National Works Agency (NWA) has already made plans to repair the roadway.
Mayor Moore also signalled his intention to speak with the protestors when more details are available.
Communications manager for the NWA’s western division, Janel Rickets confirmed that work should commence on the Hartford roadway in a few weeks.
