Residents and taxi operators mount roadblocks in Southern Manchester over bad road
Residents and taxi operators have blocked several roads in Southern Manchester protesting against bad road conditions.
Police say the areas blocked are the Cross Keys, Smithfield, New Broughton, Salmon, Longside and Blenheim main roads.
The roads were blocked from as early as three o’clock this morning.
Police say they have cleared a section of the roads, allowing for single lane access.
Meantime, classes were suspended at the cross keys high school in Manchester on Monday morning due to the protest.
School principal Paul Morgan said the decision to suspend classes was taken as only 75 of the over 400 students turned up this morning.
He said the institution sent home students as there are concerns that students would have been unable to get home from school.
