IRIE FM News was informed that both pupils transferred recently to the school.
Devonie came from Green Island High in Hanover last September, while the accused started Ocho Rios High last month.
Reports are that the two had a dispute in Ocho Rios town on Tuesday.
A day later, Devonie was attacked while standing in a classroom.
He sustained serious injuries and died at hospital.
A team led by Education Minister Dr Dana Morris Dixon and MP Mathew Samuda visited the grieving family after going to the school.
The wails from his mother could be heard from outside as distressed family members tried to come to terms with the fact that Devonie would never return home.
His biological parents were too shaken to speak.
However, Devonie’s step-mother, Merlene Chambers, told IRIE FM News that she was the one who got the call about the terrible incident.
Ms. Chambers said Devonie was an ambitious child who asked her to secure a transfer for him to Ocho Rios High.
The Education Ministry says it will provide counselling to the family.
Some upset neighbours who gathered in the area have been querying how the incident could have unfolded when the child was in a classroom with others.
