Regulations for recently re-imposed states of emergency tabled in Senate
The regulations for the recently re-imposed states of emergency (SOEs) were tabled in the Senate this morning (January 6).
The SOEs cover St. Ann, Clarendon, St. Catherine, Kingston and St. Andrew, Hanover, St. James, and Westmoreland and took effect on December 28.
Following the tabling of the regulations, Opposition Senator Lambert Brown queried whether an extension would be sought.
In response, Leader of Government Business, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith said there was no intention to recall the Senate earlier than it would usually meet to consider an extension.
Mrs Johnson Smith further indicated that there would be no debate on the regulations as was suggested in other media.
