Reggae Walk of Fame and Museum Proposes the renaming of North Coast Highway to Reggae Highway
The Reggae Walk of Fame and Museum is proposing plans to rename the North Coast Highway to the Reggae Highway.
This initiative aims to leverage Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage and globally renowned reggae music to create a unique tourist attraction that will benefit the island significantly.
According to proponents of the project, renaming the highway will not only enhance Jamaica’s appeal as a travel destination but also provide a unique experience for tourists. The idea is for the highway to be filled with reggae-themed attractions, signage, and possibly even live performances along the way
The project also plans to utilize reggae ambassadors, such as the legendary Bob Marley, to promote the Reggae Highway. Associating the highway with these iconic artists will provide a powerful promotional tool that resonates with fans worldwide.
Additionally the communities surrounding the highway stand to benefit immensely from this initiative, with increased tourism expected to spur economic activities, create employment opportunities, and encourage the preservation and celebration of cultural heritage.
As the proposal makes its way to the government for consideration, organizers are urging officials to seize this opportunity to celebrate Jamaican culture, enhance tourism, and foster community development on the north coast.
