Reggae Girlz complete sweep against Peru with 3-2 Win

Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz secured a sweep of their two-match friendly international series against Peru, finishing with a 3-2 victory in the second match played at the Estadio Miguel Grau in Piura on Wednesday. This win follows their 2-0 triumph in the opening game on Sunday, and marks a strong conclusion to their successful series against their South American opponents.

The Reggae Girlz wasted little time asserting their dominance, with Naya Cardoza opening the scoring in the 6th minute for her maiden senior goal. Just 13 minutes later, Reanna Blades doubled the lead with her first international goal for Jamaica. The visitors were firmly in control, and Tiffany Cameron added a third in the 22nd minute for her 8th senior goal, marking her first strike since scoring against the Dominican Republic in 2022 at Sabina Park.

This performance saw the Reggae Girlz score three goals before halftime, a feat they had not achieved since April 2022. Just before the break, in the 45th minute, Jamaica’s goalkeeper Liya Brooks, in her third appearance for the national team, made a crucial save, denying Peru a penalty and maintaining her side’s advantage.

The second match came after their 2-0 victory in the opening game on Sunday, where Jodi Brown and Kayla McKenna were both on target and capped off a perfect series by the national senior women’s team, coached by Hubert Busby, and who have extended their winning streak to four games.

Jamaica will next face Mexico in two friendly internationals on April 5 in Kansas City and April 8 in Houston.
