Reggae Girls end the year as no.40 on FIFA Rankings
Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will end the year as the 40th ranked team on the FIFA/Coca Cola Women’s World Rankings.
The upward move of two places comes after Jamaica swept South Africa in a recent two-match friendly international series in Montego Bay, 3-0 on November 28 and 3-2 on December 1.
With the move, the Reggae Girlz remain the number one ranked team in the Caribbean and fourth overall in Concacaf behind the United States who occupy top spot on the FIFA Rankings ahead of Spain (2nd, +1), Germany (3rd, +1), England (4th, -2) and Sweden who maintained the position.
Canada, the second highest placed team from Concacaf, are sixth followed by Mexico (31st, -1), Costa Rica (43rd), Haiti (54th, -1) and Panama (57th, +3).
Trinidad and Tobago remained put at 77 and are followed by Guatemala (79th, +1), Puerto Rico (85), Guyana 89, El Salvador 90 and Cuba 91 with the latter three teams holding firm to the positions from the November rankings.
While Sweden (5th) and Canada (6th) maintain their lofty positions, while Brazil (7th, +1) and Japan (8th, -1) swapped places. Korea DPR (9th) are ahead of the Netherlands (10th, +1), whose return to the top 10 sees France (11th, -1) dropping out for the first time in their history.
There has also been considerable movement in the top 50. The most notable breakthroughs have come from Poland (28th, +4), who recorded the biggest gain in terms of points, and Belarus (50th, +5). Indonesia (97th, +7) and Estonia (99th, +8) made even more spectacular gains in breaking into the top 100.
