Reggae Girl goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer- help Spurs advance to Women’s FA Cup semi-final
Reggae Girl goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer was the hero as Tottenham Hotspur womens defeated Manchester City 4-3 on penalties to reach the semi-finals of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time.
However City’s defeat was overshadowed by the enforced substitution of fellow Reggae girl and Women’s Super League top scorer Khadija Bunny Shaw who went off in the second half with a shoulder injury .
It was city who took a 6th minute lead through Mary Fowler.
With City losing Shaw in the 70th minute they were punished when Bethany England forced the game into extra time in the sixth minute of added time.
Spurs then won the shootout 4-3, with goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer saving two of City’s spot-kicks.
Tottenham join Chelsea, Manchester united and Leicester in the semi-final draw, which takes place tomorrow.
Tottenham’s success meant City have failed to progress from the Fa Cup quarter-finals for the first time in the club’s history.
