Reggae Girl Allyson Swaby joins Crystal Palace Women on permanent deal
Crystal Palace Women have secured the signing of Jamaican international defender Allyson Swaby from AC Milan on a permanent deal. The 28-year-old has agreed to a contract that will keep her at the Barclays Women’s Super League club until June 2027.
Swaby, who has earned 37 caps for Jamaica, has built an impressive career in some of the world’s most competitive leagues, having played in the United States, France, and Italy. She joins Crystal Palace following a successful spell at AC Milan, where she continued to showcase her defensive prowess in Serie A.
Before her time in Milan, Swaby made a significant impact at AS Roma, helping the club lift the 2021 Coppa Italia. Her journey also includes stints at Angel City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Milan, where she honed her skills in some of the most high-profile women’s football teams in Europe and the United States.
On the international stage, Swaby has been a key figure for Jamaica, playing in both the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups. Her standout moment came in the 2023 tournament in Australia, when she scored Jamaica’s first-ever World Cup finals victory. Swaby netted the winning goal in a historic 1-0 win over Panama in Perth, a moment that helped pave the way for the Reggae Girlz to create history by finishing second in Group F to advance to the Round of 16.
Swaby said: “I’m super excited to be here. I’m really looking forward to being able to step onto the pitch with the team and just get straight to work!”
Head coach Laura Kaminski said: “Allyson is a fantastic addition to the squad. She brings experience, leadership, and real defensive quality.
“She’s played at the highest level in both club and international football, and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll have here at Palace.”
Swaby could make her debut for Crystal Palace who are playing away at Broadfield Stadium in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday as they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion.
