Reggae boys to open account in revamped Concacaf Nations League against Honduras
Jamaica’s national men’s senior footballers will open their campaign in the revamped Concacaf Nations League against Honduras.
The game to be hosted by Jamaica will be played on Friday September 8 and precedes the home match against Haiti on September 12.
The Reggae boyz will then travel to Grenada on October 12 before playing away to Haiti in their final game of the “swiss style” league system on October 15.
The Concacaf Nations League in the meantime will continue to be played in a three-league format (A, B, and C) with the final scheduled to be played in March 2024.
As previously announced the competition has been revamped to include more direct elimination matches that will provide a qualification route to continental summer competitions .
League ‘A’ which includes Jamaica, has been expanded to include 16 teams and a new quarterfinal round.
The top 2 teams after group stage play during the September and October match windows, will advance to the Nation League quarterfinals, where they will join the four seeded teams Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United states.
The quarterfinal round, meanwhile, will be played in a home-and-away format in November, with the winners on aggregate in each match-up……advancing to the 2024 nations league finals and also qualifying for the 2024 Copa America.
