Reggae artiste Chris Malachi launches crowdfunding campaign to fund MSc in Music Business Management
Reggae artiste Christopher Morris also known as Chris Malachi has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support his dream of pursuing a master’s degree in music business management at the prestigious University of Westminster in London.
In a video shared on Instagram, Chris Malachi, said this isn’t just about earning a degree. He said London supports creative infrastructure at a high level, something Jamaica could use more of and plans to learn how to build systems and networks to be able to come back to Jamaica and pour into the creative community.
The artiste also shared that this was the second time he was being accepted to the university but regrettably had to defer last time due to financial constraints. Determined to make his dreams a reality, he’s turned to GoFundMe to raise the tuition deposit needed by August 1.
The reggae community is rallying behind him, with notable figures like Kumar Fyah and Seani B chiming in.
Seani B lauded the Army of Light singer as an ‘incredible talent who deserves the support to pursue his dreams’ while Kumar Fyah tagged the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, emphasizing the importance of this opportunity ‘for the culture.’
The campaign, Support Chris Malachi’s Music Business Journey, with a goal of $11,000 USD, has so far raised $3,343 USD.
