Rafael Nadal to focus on Olympic Games, instead of Wimbledon
Rafael Nadal says it would not be a “good idea” to play Wimbledon as he targets this year’s Olympics instead.
After losing in the french open first round yesterday, the 37-year-old spaniard who has ben plagued by injuries in recent times said returning to Roland Garros at the Paris 2024 Games is now his “main goal”.
Wimbledon, where Nadal won in 2008 and 2010, starts on the first of July, while the Olympic Tennis Tournament serves off on July 27.
Nadal, the 22 times grand slam champion earmarked to play Olympic doubles for Spain with reigning Wimbledon Champion Carlos Alcaraz, said itsĀ simply a matter of waiting to see if he will be ready in time for paris.
