Racing at Caymanas Park suspended following the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa

Racing at Caymanas Park has been suspended until further notice, following the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. 

Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), the sole promoter of local horse racing in Jamaica, in a release said the SVREL’s team has been conducting thorough assessments at Caymanas Park to determine the full impact of the storm. 

Preliminary inspections revealed damage to five stables, and repair crews are already on site carrying out restoration work. the company is also prioritizing the resolution of electrical, structural, and technological issues to ensure the safety and smooth operation of its facilities.

Despite the storm’s effects, the racing surface at Caymanas Park remains in excellent condition and is ready for exercise.

To minimize disruptions for racing fans and enthusiasts, svrel has announced that simulcast racing will resume October 31, at Caymanas Park and select off-track betting (OTB) locations in Kingston, St. Andrew, and St. Catherine.
