Public sensitization campaign to be undertaken in two weeks so citizens can know councillors
A public sensitization campaign will be undertaken in the next 2 weeks, by the Local Government Ministry as part of the response to complaints from citizens that they do not know their councillors.
The announcement was made on Thursday by portfolio minister Desmond McKenzie while addressing the swearing in ceremony at the Trelawny Municipal Corporation.
Colin Gager has been returned as the chairman of the corporation and mayor of Falmouth.
Mr. Mckenzie noted that the public will be given a guide book which outlines the roles and functions of Local Government.
The minister said he will also champion the cause for councillors to be more accountable and transparent.
