Public Accounts Committee awaiting input from Attorney-General’s Department on outstanding appropriation accounts at MOHW

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is awaiting input from the Attorney-General’s Department regarding outstanding appropriation accounts at the Health and Wellness Ministry.

The matter regarding the outstanding accounts, which spans around 11 years, was again raised during this morning’s meeting of the Committee.

The Ministry has been under increasing pressure and public scrutiny over its inability to clear the backlog, which goes as far back as the 2013/2014 financial year.

PAC Chair Julian Robinson pointed out this morning that correspondents from the Ministry revealed that the delays were linked to the reluctance of current employees to sign off on accounts that predated their employment at the Ministry.

Mr. Robinson said the Ministry had been urged to seek the advice of the Attorney-General’s Department on how to handle the matter, but so far, there is no update.
