PSOJ calls for in-depth discussion on public sector compensation, with focus on value for money
The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) has called for a more in-depth discussion on the issue of public sector compensation, with a focus on value for money.
The call comes amid tension between the Government and trade unions, as the parties argue over the controversial compensation review.
Co-Chair of the PSOJ’s Economic Policy Committee, Dr Adrian Stokes, said the discussions so far, have been one-sided, focusing on workers’ wages.
He said the discussions need to also include, how the public sector can be modernized, so that it is effective, and contributes to economic stability.
He was speaking yesterday (June 1), at the PSOJ’s virtual forum on tackling macroeconomic performance.
