PS in the Ministry of Local Government highlights impact disasters have on young entrepreneurs
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, Marsha Henry-Martin is calling for greater focus on young entrepreneurs, highlighting the devastating impact disasters have on this vital group.
Speaking at the Hurricane-Ready and Resilient Forum on Loss and Damage for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) this morning, Mrs. Henry-Martin stressed that young business owners are not only key drivers of innovation and economic growth, but are among the most vulnerable when disasters strike.
She pointed to Hurricane Beryl, which affected Jamaica last year, as a clear example of how operations of young entrepreneurs were disrupted significantly, reinforcing the need for targeted support and resilience strategies.
