Proxy to be used for persons who lack certain identifying documents under Solidarity Programme

A proxy will be used for persons eligible for grants under the new Solidarity Programme who lack certain identifying documents.

This was outlined by Labour and Social Security Minister Pearnel Charles Junior, while responding to questions from opposition parliamentarian Dr. Morais Guy in the Lower House yesterday.

Concern was raised about applications for persons who do not have a birth certificate.

Mr. Charles Junior explained that this issue was taken into consideration and measures taken to address it.

The Solidarity Programme is a new initiative aimed at providing support to vulnerable citizens who are not already benefiting from existing aid programmes such as PATH or the NIS.

Solidarity will offer eligible beneficiaries cash grants of $20,000 and upwards.
