Proposed national budget for 2025/2026 fiscal year reflects generally sound Gov’t principles – PIOJ’s Dr. Wayne Henry
The proposed national budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year reflects generally sound Government principles, especially in light of consecutive contractions in Jamaica’s economy.
That’s according to Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr. Wayne Henry.
Speaking at the Institute’s quarterly press briefing yesterday, Dr. Henry explained that though there are some spending contractions in the budget, there is continued emphasis on important sectors such as education, health and finance.
The 2025/2026 Estimates of Expenditure was tabled in Parliament by Finance Minister, Fayval Williams on February 13.
She will open a debate on the budget on March 11.
The proposed budget has until March 31 to be approved.
