Promoters cry foul over premature removal of event boards in St. Ann

Party promoters in St. Ann are expressing growing frustration over the continued removal of advertising boards for their upcoming events, claiming the practice is hurting their businesses and costing them financially.

Promoter, Calloboy, told Music News that despite paying for the boards to be produced and covering parish council fees, many of his signs are taken down well before the event is held. While some have pointed fingers at rival promoters trying to sabotage each other, he believes there may be other motives at play. Calloboy says the boards are taken and repurposed within communities.

Another promoter echoed a similar concern. The Promoter said having spent over $200,000 on signage for their party several of their boards were recently removed in Ocho Rios, St Ann’s Bay & St Mary.

Both promoters are calling on the authorities to investigate the situation and are urging those responsible to be more considerate of the time, effort, and resources involved in promoting entertainment events many of which contribute significantly to local economies and the vibrancy of Jamaica’s party culture.

The promoters say if the problem persists, it could discourage investment in events that bring jobs, tourism, and energy to the parish.
