An investigation is underway into the circumstances that led to the crash which left two police officers dead, last evening. 

Dead are 22-year-old Shawn Atkinson and 22-year-old Jessica West, both constables attached to the Clarendon Division. 

Reports indicate that Atkinson and West died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on the York Town Main Road in May Pen, Clarendon. 

According to police reports, the driver of the service vehicle lost control and the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

Atkinson and West were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. 

A police sergeant and a constable who were also in the service vehicle at the time of the crash, sustained injuries and remain in hospital, where they are being treated. 

The JCF also deployed its Chaplaincy Branch to provide grief counseling to the affected families
