Prime Minister Andrew Holness says party politics will not hinder Jamaica from becoming a republic
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has sought to assure that what he describes as party politics will not hinder Jamaica’s movement to becoming a republic.
This amidst growing public debate over the dual citizenship of Opposition Leader, Mark Golding.
Mr. Holness, several of his Ministers and members of the public have called for Mr. Golding to renounce his United Kingdom citizenship.
Many have also raised concern that the matter could hinder the efforts of the Constitutional Reform Committee.
In response, Prime Minister Holness said it is just party politics and will in no way impact the transitioning process.
He was speaking at an unveiling ceremony at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Kingston today.
