Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he is aware of challenges faced by parents for new academic year

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he is aware of challenges faced by parents for the new academic year.

He adds that the administration is preoccupied with making investments that will improve the lives of parents and students.

Mr. Holness made the declaration this morning at Jamaica College in St. Andrew.

His visit comes as thousands of students across the country return to the classrooms for the start of the new school year.

Addressing the school body, Mr. Holness noted that amidst the immense pride being felt by parents, he understands that there are lingering concerns.

These concerns he said, will only be addressed if the country has a robust economy – a feat he said is top priority for his administration.

A part of this focus includes the cost of living of Jamaicans, especially regarding public transportation.

He also went to the Transport Center in Half-Way-Tree with the Transport and Education Ministers before heading to Jamaica College.
