Prime Minister Andrew Holness says in the coming days, engineers and consultants will finalize the design phase and start the reconstruction of the Ocho Rios Pier in St. Ann.

The Pier was damaged in February due to flooding caused by rough seas and strong winds.

In a social media post yesterday, Mr. Holness said he toured the Pier and saw the damage first hand.

He noted that the crisis presents an opportunity for growth, as the pier will be repaired, expanded and modernized to accommodate larger vessels.

The move is part of efforts to enhance the capabilities of Jamaica’s ports.
