Prime Minister and Opposition Leader speak during opening of new parliamentary term
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the new Parliament is charged with advancing to a higher plane of national development.
Dr. Holness also declared today’s opening of the 2025 parliamentary term, a recommitment by all members of the house, to service.
He noted that it is a solemn reminder of the weight of responsibilities that rests on all who have been appointed to serve.
He said he will work diligently to achieve more for the country.
Opposition Leader’s Address
“It’s a good thing to have a general election with minimal violence.”
Those were the opening words from Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, as he addressed the House of Representatives today.
Today was the opening of the new Parliament , following the September 3 general poll, which ended with the opposition gaining 28 of the 63 seats.
Mr. Golding said the increase in seats is good for the country’s democracy.
He expressed gratitude to the electors who voted for the People’s National Party.
